Sarah reads this page aloud, including the main links and buttons.
Accessibility and inclusion
Our approach to making Eden’s Garden calm, understandable and usable for more children.
Our approach
Eden’s Garden is being designed with clear text, large buttons, recognisable visuals, consistent layouts, simple steps and gentle feedback. We aim to make it useful for children with a wide range of learning and support needs.
What we are testing
- Keyboard-only navigation and visible focus outlines.
- Readable text, responsive layouts and larger text controls.
- Read-aloud support for instructions and stories.
- Predictable controls and simple ways to return to an activity.
- Activities that do not rely on colour alone.
- Reduced distractions and calm feedback.
Current limitations
This is an early browser demonstration and not all accessibility features are complete or tested across devices. Spoken narration may vary by browser and installed voices. Some games are still being refined for touch, keyboard and assistive technology.
Parent and carer support
Adults should supervise use of the early demonstration. Parent controls and safe browsing settings for the operating system are still being developed and tested.
Report a problem
We welcome feedback about confusing instructions, inaccessible controls or features that would help a child learn more comfortably. Our family-interest page is currently for updates and testing interest, not for sharing sensitive medical details.
Your display options
The display options bar near the top of each information page lets you choose larger text, higher contrast, a calmer view, or reduced movement. Your choices are saved only in this browser’s local storage on this device. Use Reset to clear them. The browser game page is not yet covered by these settings.
Keyboard and assistive technology
Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move through links and controls, Enter to activate links, and Space or Enter for buttons. Each page includes a Skip to content link. The site is being reviewed for keyboard and screen-reader usability; we have not completed a formal accessibility certification.
Optional page read-aloud
Listen with Sarah offers pre-generated audio of the public page text, created on our server with a self-hosted AI voice model. No personal registration information is used in the recordings. Sarah is an American English voice. The previous browser voice selector has been removed to keep the page simpler.
On public information pages, press Play in the Listen with Sarah player to hear the public page narrated. Pause, resume and stop are available when supported. Sarah uses pre-generated American English AI speech; the browser play activities are not included in this feature.
What we are still working on
More consistent read-aloud voices, full screen-reader audits, real-device touch testing and a complete WCAG 2.2 AA audit remain planned. Please share feedback if you find a barrier.
